Plan For Growth

Plan for Growth is a 10-week business development program for small manufacturers.

The program, funded by JP Morgan Chase + Co, guides participants in developing and implementing a new and individualized Plan for Growth. Participants will explore effective ways to move from a startup mentality and to a long-term vision of sustainable growth.

This year, the course will be facilitated by Skopos Collective, a consultancy that helps ambitious business owners better compete and negotiate in New York City’s fast-paced, ever-changing business climate (and be better prepared for the messy middles).

The course covers an array of essential and timely topics such as accounting, human resource management, capital, supply chains, distribution, the digital space, marketing and branding, leadership, organizational culture, and more!

SBIDC has graduated 54 businesses over the last 3 years. Since graduating, alumni have reported a 25% increase in revenue, a 24% increase in total jobs, and an average starting wage of $19 per hour. For 2019, SBIDC has set a goal of 75% of participants being women, minority and veteran-owned small businesses.

The next session begins on March 13th. Classes will take place at the Innovation Lab located at Building 87 in Industry City. Each class will begin promptly at 9:30AM and end at 1:00PM.

“Plan for Growth is the best thing I did for my business this year. I really can’t say enough good things about my experience taking the class…There’s a big focus on creating and implementing systems because this is key for growth.”  – Rebecca, Rebecca Atwood Designs

“Like many small business owners, I have grown my business from the ground up. I often inadvertently skipped steps along the way. This class was an amazing opportunity that equipped me with knowledge and tools that helped me make positive changes within my company. I have a fresh set of eyes and a renewed sense of energy and excitement for the future.” – Erin, Knot and Bow

“My experience in Plan for Growth was instrumental. It helped me intelligently prepare my business to grow through forming a solid foundation. The topics were especially relevant, and included professional soul searching as well as more tactical, practical information. I highly recommend it to any business owner looking to tighten systems and learn how to become a better leader and overall happier business owner.” -Dawn, One Girl Cookies
