Procurement Access & Youth Development (PAYD) Program Finishes Successful Pilot Year and Enters 2nd Year
As PAYD’s pilot year comes to an end, the program that provides FREE government and private contracting assistance to local businesses with the intent of creating jobs for local youth has seen plenty of success and is ready for its second year. With SBIDC’s support, six contracts have been awarded to five enrolled businesses and seven local youths have been placed in six businesses in PAYD’s pilot year. These results have translated into additional, diversified revenue streams for local businesses and much-needed employment for local youth. Entering the program’s second year, plans are already in place and efforts are going to made to surpass the pilot year results and continue to link business and youth needs in this innovative direct service program. SBIDC would like to thank PAYD funders, Trinity Wall Street Foundation and JP Morgan Chase Foundation, for their past and continued support, as well as PAYD partners, Sunset Park Alliance for Youth (SPA) and LaGuardia Community College Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC), for their tireless efforts in assuring a prosperous pilot year and a promising second year.
